Client success stories
“Jacoba is a one of the best coaches I've ever had, or can even imagine, 3 continuous package bookings already says it all. It’s quite amazing that she is a non-native speaker - it shows the effective methodology that she has on learning language. Not only can Jacoba balance different aspects very well to help people learn and adapt happily, but also is very easy to form a strong connection with.”
- Jia Deng, UI/UX Engineer, Mercedes-Benz
“When we arrived in Stuttgart, I found navigating a new culture and adapting to life in here quite challenging. Jacoba has been instrumental in supporting me through these cultural challenges. She initially asked me what my language learning goals were, and we worked together to achieve them. Our sessions are always interesting and relevant to topics that I enjoy.”
- Lucille van der Merwe, Founder of Wild Women on the Run
“I couldn’t be happier that I heard about Jacoba. I end each session feeling so much lighter and have learned some great skills that I can use daily when feeling overwhelmed and I am also so impressed by how professionally she works. She is able to adapt everything to my needs and gives me the accountability that I require.”
– Rachel Lynch, Expat and Entrepreneur
Meet Jacoba.
In 2019 I hopped on a one way flight to Germany, with zero German language skills. I had a full ride scholarship to do my Masters but was told: You need to pass your German B2 exam in order to be able to stay.
Panic at the disco! I madly studied for 3 months and somehow managed to pull it off. But I was meeeeega stressed in the process.
Parallel to my Masters I started my coaching certification with Co-Active (and then the International Coaching Federation), in search of an answer to....
How can I motivate myself to learn and grow in a sustainable way?
Soon I realised I’m not the only one asking these questions and with experience teaching German language courses to expats under my belt, I founded my teaching and coaching business Navigate: German for Expats.
Now I help English-speaking Expats feel confident in daily German situations, as well as coaching them through the transition of moving abroad. And I get mistaken for a native German speaker very often!
Let me be your guide during this exciting process.
